Care providers have been spared the recession-fuelled cuts that many feared from the latest round of long term care baseline fee settlements, according to this year’s annual CCMN survey of local authority payment levels which has given an average uplift of 2.6% for the 200,000 state supported elderly people in independent sector care homes across the UK. So, while this marks a slight fall compared to the 3% increase seen in last year’s round of uplifts, it suggests that against the backdrop of an economy in recession, the sector remains somewhat protected for the year ahead.
