Thinktank targets care funding
The conservative thinktank Policy Exchange has implored the government not to pay for care purely through general taxation as the coalition’s
commission on the funding of care embarks on finding a sustainable model for long term care.
In its latest report, Careless: Funding long term care for the elderly, the organisation says that free personal care funded out of general taxation - as
introduced in Scotland in 2002 - would cost the government a mammoth figure if plans to create a National Care Service providing care free at the point
of need were pursued.
