Blood Money
Southern Cross healthcare has paid out an undisclosed sum in compensation to the family of an 82 year old woman who died in one of the provider’s facilities in Rochdale.
Although Betty Delaney died from an unrelated illness, it has been reported that the provider has settled a personal injusty claim made by relatives which claimed that alongside bed sores Mrs Delaney had suffered ‘discomfort and indignity’ during her final days at Oakland’s Care Home. Southern Cross’ regional director for the North, Phil Whitaker commented: ‘We are very sorry that the care Mrs Delaney received while at the home was not to the appropriate standard and we apologise to her family for this.’
